Here is a peek at one of my garden beds planted out using the Square Foot Garden method. It is quite densely planted with a variety of vegetable plants and a few herbs. I enjoy using the Square Foot Garden method because it allows me to plant quite a few veggies in a small space. I love being able to come out just before dinner and harvest veggies for our salad. This is the perfect system for my family because it does not require me to try to store the veggies and my family gets to eat a healthy salad every day! I don't have to keep up with what is going bad in the fridge. In this video I also review the "cut and come again: method for harvesting Swiss Chard. By removing each leaf individually the plant can continue to grow and offer more delicious food for our family, It is important to only harvest a few leave from each plant.
What are you growing this summer? Have you tried Swiss Chard? It grows very easily in our Zone 7 garden. It can take the cool temperatures in early spring like spinach but does not bolt when the warm weather arrives. I will be able to harvest Swiss Chard all summer and well into the fall.
Add this healthy green leafy veggie to your
GIY garden today!!!
